senior show.

this is what my senior show looked like.

it went alright.
I was in a room with my favorite kids: Kelly, Elizabeth, Michael, and Mary. so that helped a lot.
Kelly took this picture at the show. I was very excited.



then I graduated and my sister took a lot of awesome pictures...like this one

that's the sound my logo makes.
finished up my business cards yesterday (just in time for career day portfolio reviews tomorrow). I'm pretty happy with them.


they're 4.25" x 1", white and black screen print on red cardstock. I had to venture to the paper and scrapbooking section at hobby lobby and it was terrifying.

on the topic of my logo. I made that obnoxious banner thing for this blog a long time ago and I was only sort of serious about the "Victoria Machete" thing. but when it came time to design my logo and my boyfriend suggested I draw "a sweet dagger or something" I remembered the machete. it sounds like my last name, and its sharp. sharp wit, sharp tongue, sharp mind. sharp sharp sharp... doesn't even sound like a word anymore.
I need to get better at explaining this shit... anyway, I'm pretty attached to it, but any feedback would be appreciated.

okay well. this took a while to post, but here's the layout I did for the Victor boys. the vinyl is maroon and it was also pressed on translucent amber.

second day back at school and I already feel extremely overwhelmed.
spent an hour with Joan to go over my work and decide what I'll be working on in my portfolio class. she has promised there will be many more of these discussions.
I have a little bit of a lead for my thesis.
I have a picture in my head for my first print III assignment.
and I have ideas swimming all over the place for advanced print. hopefully looking into this engraving business today. we'll see.

in the mean time, here are my current pride and joy:


this is an 8" x 10" woodcut of my parents' wedding photo. I made it for them for christmas. awwwwww


this is a series of 2.5" x 4.5" woodcuts that are based on a group of Catholic saints who are referred to as "incorruptibles." there is a large number of saints who bodies supposedly never decomposed entirely. they remain soft and flexible and emit a flower like aroma. so these are supposed to resemble prayer cards. one image is the "saintly" image, and it is juxtaposed with a non traditional representation of part of their legacy. on the back of the saint image is a prayer that is associated with them, on the back of the other image is a brief history and explanation of the image.
I am extremely happy with how these turned out.
